The Pin Bhaba Pass Trek is your passage between two distinct worlds - that from the abundant and alive Bhaba valley in Kinnaur to the dry, resilient and almost galactic Pin Valley in Spiti (the cold desert). And the reward for getting to the highest point of the trek – the Pass (4,915 M) - is that you get a look into both the worlds at the same time. The prayer flags, the panoramic view with the assault of greens on the one side and browns on the other, while you find yourself in knee deep white snow, are an experience like no other. This is the reason why Pin Bhaba Pass continues to remain our most favorite cross-over trek in the country. But this trek is not just about the stunning differences in landscape. It also introduces you to two distinct Himalayan cultures - the livelihoods, structure of houses, lifestyles – as you traverse from one side of the mountain to the other. The realisation that communities and cultures are a product of their environment is a sheer revelation you will witness on this trek.

Itineraries
Day1
Shimla To Kafnu
On the first day you will be greeted by the representative on behalf Journey Handlers. Then start your journey to Kafnu by vehicle. The drive to Kafnu takes you on scenic mountain roads. The struggle of the soft round curves lulling you to sleep while you try to stay awake to soak in the views of the valley is real! With a cluster of brightly colored roofs every few seconds, the houses standing on narrow ledges on mountain faces and the patterns of step farming make the green landscape seem even more pleasing. The murky Sutlej River seems to camouflage itself in its rocky background but its forceful march forward, almost with a sense of resolve, gives it away.
The roads run narrow in many parts with a deep gorge on the other side leaving the area prone to rock fall and landslides; do not expect this to be a smooth ride. In some areas, the roads look like they are straight out of Need for Speed – smooth but narrow, under hanging boulders on top of a high mountain with a drop on the other side. You will reach Kafnu by evening. Overnight stay and dinner at Kafnu.
Day2
Kafnu To Mulling
The morning will begin with a warm breakfast and hot tea at the homestay. You will embark on the trail which is motorable for a short while and then it turns narrow. The trek starts from the small abode village of Kafnu. Once you have left the village of Kafnu you will see pine and deodar forest. As you start walking at high altitudes you will start seeing the cliffs of Spiti and Kinnaur mountain ranges. From there on you will be seeing a lot of apple orchards on the way. After just walking you will come up to sight of the underground hydro project. The trek is normal from there on. But after crossing the Bhabha River you will be entering the dense forest of oak and pine. The trek then becomes steep until you reach the point Jhandi Top, then you have to walk a little more to reach the campsite Mulling which is right beside the river.
Day3
Mulling To Kara
You will wake up in the morning to the sound of the river flowing, and today’s trek will be a bit less challenging than the last. You will be climbing for a short while till you reach the alluring view of meadows and cascades. After crossing the waterfall, you will be walking along the river when you reach the campsite at Kara.
Day4
Kara To Pushtirang
You would wake up with the cold breeze of snow cliffs, blowing over the chilly river and passing through your tent. This trek will be the shortest than before and is the most enjoyable trail as you are walking by the river trail. From there, you will climb up the hill until you reach your camping site. The river trail is a little rough as you are passing boulders and crossing streams. However, as you reach the top you will come to a clearing, and peaks like Nimish Khango, Tari Khango, Hansbeshan, and Pin Bhaba Pass will come into sight.
Day5
Rest Day at Pushtirang
This morning you will have breakfast, the whole day is to rest and acclimatize yourself to the atmosphere. You can walk around and enjoy the blooming flowers on the slopes nearby.
Day6
Pushtirang to Pin Bhaba Pass to Mangrungse
On this day you will be trekking and reaching the main destination, which is not going to be easy. But the experience is going to be one of a kind, as you will be climbing a steep hill to make it from Pushtirang to Bhaba Pass. The pass lies between Pin and Bhaba. Upon reaching the point you will be seeing the drastic landscape change from green meadows to the frozen desert of Spiti. After that, to reach the campsite, you would have to descend to the trek on the gravel and you would have to cross pin river by foot.
Day7
Trek from Mangrungse and trek to Mudh To Manali
On the final day of the trek, the trail from Mangrungse to Mudh will be easy to walk. From Mangrungse you will first arrive at Bara Boulder campsite. There you will cross pin river tributary via a wooden bridge. After crossing the bridge, you will reach Pharka village, there will be another river you will be crossing, and you will finally reach Mudh village. Once you reach Mudh, your trek would have been complete. Then you will be picked by the cab provided by the Journey Handlers which will drop you at Manali.
